The 41st meeting of AWF members were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 7th & 8th Nov. 2024. It was preceded by the 16th ASIA Welding Technology & Application Forum on 6th Nov. and followed with the Auditor Workshop on 8th Nov. 2024. AWF meetings were attended by more than 40 Reps from the 18 Associations of the 12 Member Countries.
It is now an established Agenda of AWF Half Yearly Meeting Schedule to have one day Conference on sharing the development work on welding Technology in respective countries. In the 16th ASIA Welding Technology & Application Forum on 6th Nov, several papers were presented on welding technology developments being done in the member countries. Topics covered were vast & included MIG/TIG Hybrid Welding of dissimilar metals, New Cold Welding methods for weld repairs, Training and Education Infrastructure were presented.
During the meetings of AWF on 7th & 8th Nov., AWF President, Mr. SM Mahajan delivered an opening remark, and Secretary General, Mr. Sze Thiam Siong hosted the meeting. Chairmen of various Sub Committeespresented the work done and recommendations on areas of Technical Aspects, Training & Education, Specification Development, Certification, Standardization, Website & IT Platform. The Governing Council met on 7th A/N to discuss strategic agenda as per Aims & Objects of AWF.
In his Presidential Address to the Governing Council, AWF President, Mr. SM Mahajan from India emphasized the need for AWF to reach out broader and wider to further its Aims & Objects as enumerated in the Constitution. He advised the member Associations to involve the Industry in the respective Countries in the Concurrent exhibition along with the Welding Technology & Application Forum to promote mutual sharing of technological and product & services development. Our members should also make productive use of the MOU with IIW.
The Conference was hosted by Malaysian Welding and Joining Society-MWJS - along with University of KL-Malaysia French Institute- UniKL-MFI. AWF duly acknowledges the gesture of UniKL-MFI and MWJS
