2024 Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Developmentand Technology Innovation - "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition  took place in Beijing and Gu’an, Hebei Province from October 25^th-30^th 2024. With the strong support by BRICS and Belt & Road countries, the competition gathered over 300 participants from nearly 100 teams. Among them, the participants in China are from more than 50 central enterprises, high/secondary vocational colleges and related enterprises. There are more than 30 overseas contestants from 15 companies from Russia, India, Singapore, Germany, Iran, Mongolia, Vietnam, other countries and regions. At present, the Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation, as a cooperation platform project of the Belt & Road international science and technology organizations under China Association for Science and Technology, has been included in the first batch of higher vocational schools and professional construction related evaluation results, and included in the catalog of college students competition of the China Association of Higher Education. "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition as one of associatedevents by the International Institute of Welding (IIW), known as the "Welding World Cup".

The grand opening ceremony of the competition took place in Gu’an, Hebei Province on the morning of 26th October . Ms. Xia Juan, Deputy Director-general of China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, Ministry of Education, Dr. Liu Zhenying, the chairperson of China Section of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, President of International Alliance of Skills Development for Belt& Road and BRICS, President of Organizing Committee of Belt& Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation, Vice President of China Welding Association,Mr.Sun Zheng,Immediate Past President/Chairman of International Affairs Committee of Singapore Welding Society and Member of the Board of Directors at International Institute of Welding (IIW), Mr. Zhu Jianqing, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of China Workers’ Welding Technology Association,Mr. Wang Xiaojie, Executive Vice President of China Machinery, Metallurgy and Building Materials Workers Technical Association, Mr. Rituraj Bose, Secretary-General of the Indian Institute of Welding,Mr. Marvin Keinert, Standardisation Manager of German Welding Society(DVS), Mr. Alexei Krasavin, Manager of Autonomous non-profit organization"Rosatom Corporate Academy", Mr. Gantulga Enkhbold, CEO at Mongolian and Germany Professional Training Institute,Mr. Kamyar Sadeghi, National Skills Competition Manager of Iran and Mr. Li Lei, deputy Secretary-General of China Machinery, Metallurgy and Building Materials Workers Technical Association presented in this opening ceremony. Besides,more than 300 people attended the opening ceremony of the competition, including experts and scholars, people from all walks of life and representatives from home and abroad.

Continuing the tradition ARC Cup International Welding Competition in innovation and breakthrough, this session of competition includes the 8th International Welding Technology Remote Competition (Welding new technology, new equipment, new materials, new processes and their application), 11th International Welding Robot Programming, Operation and Maintenance Competition, 12th International Welding Skills Competition, 3rdVirtual Simulation Welding Competition. It is worth noting that there added the aluminum alloy welding for the first time. The participants of the 3^rdVirtual Simulation Welding Competition have to complete the welding tasks of three methods: 111/SMAW, 135/GMAW and 141/GTAW. This change has enriched the competition setup and greatly reviewed the technical skill level of the contestants from different fields

In order to promote the exchange and promotion of special technology and skills in the welding field, and provide solutions and resource sharing channels to the technical problems often encountered in the welding production process, the competition also sets up non-regulated project competitions such as welding quality inspection, advanced welding equipment demonstration, advanced welding technology performance, stunts and stunts, and special welding and cutting expert performance. It is highly concerned by all walks of life.

Since 2010, the "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition has gone through 11 years, attracted nearly 5,000 technical and professional talents, experts, and a number of great craftsmen and leading talents. Over ten years, the "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition has built a platform for the exchange of high-tech talents, created more opportunities for international welding talents and skilled talents to go out and participate in the construction of the "Belt &Road", and provided a big stage for realizing life dreams! For more than 10 years, welding experts from more than 30 countries have competed on the stage of the "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition. Over 300 outstanding contestants from more than 50 central enterprises stood out from the "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition, and won the title of "Central Enterprise Technical Expert" and "Central Enterprise Youth Post Expert", and have become or are becoming the technical backbone, skill leaders and great craftsmen of various central enterprises. More than 100 vocational colleges have participated in the "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition, and hundreds of young students have won international awards, winning better career development opportunities for themselves.

Since the 1stBRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition was held in 2017, the "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition, as an important event of the BRICS Competition, has played an important role in promoting educational cooperation, skills development and people-to-people exchanges among BRICS countries. For seven consecutive years, it was presented as an deliverable to the top leaders of BRICS countries through the Annual Report of BRICS Business Council.

The 12th "ARC Cup" International Welding Competition was co-hosted by the China Chapter of BRICS Business Council, the Belt and Road and BRICS Skills Development International Alliance (IASDBR), International Alliance of Skills Development for Belt & Road and BRICS, Belt & Road and BRICS Training Center for Skills Development and Technology Innovation,  Organizing Committee of International Welding Competition(Arc Cup) , China Association of Invention (CAI), China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of Ministry of Education (CCIPE), China Welding Association (CWA), Chinese Welding Society, China Workers’ Welding Technology Association (CWWTA), International Institute of Welding (IIW), Asian Welding Federation (AWF), etc., co-organized by China Section of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen), ARC Technology Co., LTD., Beijing ARC Xinxing Science and Technology Co., Ltd., Ironman Academy (Daqing Vocational College), Jingnan-Gu 'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone Administrative Committee, Gu’an County Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and other organizations.

The competition has been strongly supported by international welding organizations from Europe, Asia and Africa.Many international welding organizations from Belarus, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Germany, Ghana, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Mongolia, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa, India, Ukraine and Vietnam have expressed their congratulations on the success of the competition. BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen), China Welding Association Additive Manufacturing and SurfacingDivision, China Welding Association Vocational Education Working Committee, China Building Materials Machinery Association Welding Technology Division also offered strong support to the competition.
